The Biospeleology and Theoretical and Applied Karstology Symposium Symposium (BTAK) is organized by the "Emil Racoviță” Institute of Speleology and Romanian Society of Speleology-Karstology, under the auspices of the Romanian Academy. The symposium is honouring the 150th anniversary of Emil Racoviță’s birth.

The Biospeleology and Theoretical and Applied Karstology Symposium provides an opportunity for scientists from Romania and abroad to get together and discuss current results and trends in the field of Biospeleology and Karstology. The symposium will include two plenary lectures, oral presentation and poster sessions on specific fields of Biospeleology and Karstology.

Moreover, you are invited to discover the breathtaking Danube Gorges, the longest and most spectacular river gorges in Europa, stretching along 135 km on the border between Romania and Serbia, and the beautiful Motru Sec-Baia de Aramă karst system, located in the Mehedinți Mountains, during two attractive field trips.

Abstract submission is open, The detailed scientific program will be available after August 15th 2018. Deadline for abstract review and acceptance: August 15th 2018.

Special sessions are planned on topics such as:

Biology and Ecology of Subterranean Fauna;

Karst Edaphobiology;

Karstology (Geomorphology, Hydrology, Geochemistry & Climatology);

Paleontology and Geochronology.
