Progression techniques, as well as science have come a long way today. Exploring deeper and caving in general has experienced a spectacular advance in methods in all its different aspects. Therefore the Catalan Federation of Speleology is organizing the 1st International Convention of Speleology in Barcelona with the following objectives:
- To present the latest technical advances in underground exploration and show new equipment.
- To update the techniques and equipment of international cave diving
- In the scientific field, determine what are the protocols to be followed in the studies of biology, archaeology, and paleontology
- Expose new knowledge in other areas, such as geology, topography, photography and climatology
- Organize sessions of caving and canyoning with the schools of the federations
- Organize a round table, both nationally and internationally, of professionals in cave rescue, where cave rescuers, security, firebrigades and civil protection bodies participate.
